The Cave Bear was a prehistoric bear that lived during the late Pleistocene and it was seen on Skull Island in the 1933 film Son of Kong. The beast appears just after Carl Denham and Hilda discovered Kiko.
Science facts[]
The cave bear was a species of bear that lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene and became extinct about 24,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum. Both the word "cave" and the scientific name spelaeus are used because fossils of this species were mostly found in caves.
Details[]
Just after saving Kiko from the quicksand in which the beast was stuck, Denham and Hilda are attacked by a giant cave bear. As the bear charges, Denham fires a shot, causing the bear to stumble before quickly regaining its bearings and continuing its attack. Denham and Hilda manage to climb onto a cliff, but the bear appears able to reach them. Just before making it to the top of the cliff, Kiko saves them, fighting and eventually defeating the beast. The Cave Bear later drowned (off screen) when Skull Island sank into the ocean.
Abilities[]
Strength and Combat: Proven to be a worthy opponent for Kiko, it was giving the ape a hard time for this fight, as Kiko needed to use a log in order to fend off the bear.
Endurance and Stamina: It was able to endure the bullet from Denham, attacks from Kiko and the hit from the log from Kiko. It was still able to run off from the fight with the ease.
Hunting: It was shown to be a solitary hunter, as it was hunting the people on the cliff as it was eager to eat.
Climber: It was able to climb to the cliff where the people were trying to get avoid from the Cave Bear.
Trivia[]
