The Dapper Crow is species of bird that is found on Skull Island. The animal is described in the book "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island" (2005).
Facts[]
Skull Island's only indigenous corvid species, the Dapper Crow as a corvid, is one of the most intelligent birds on the island, easily rivaling those of primates.
Unlike the majority of corvids, Dapper Crows are incredibly colourful birds rather than the dull black. These birds appear to have a yellow underbelly with red and dark blueish feathers on their entire bodies making them incredibly vivid within the thick jungle canopies of Skull Island.
Trivia[]
- Its colourful nature mimics that of the Birds-of-Paradise from Papua New Guinea. Given that the Birds-of-Paradise are also closely related to corvids, this might be another example of convergent evolution.
- It, alongside the majority of flying birds would have likely survived the sinking of Skull Island without the help of humans.
