The Dung Beetle (Nigracassida, meaning "dark-helmet") is a Skull Island species of Dung Beetle that measures at 3-4 inches in length (7.6-10 centimeters).
Description[]
Thanks to huge herbivores - like Brontosaurus - impressive deposits of dung were abundant on Skull Island. The Dung Beetle Nigracassida tirelessly harvested small balls of dinosaur scat, burying them for later.
The beetles' principal enemy was the White Wedgehead (Cuneatusoris alba), a sixteen-inch lizard that specialized in eating them.
Trivia[]
- Dung beetles are a real insect found on every continent except Antarctica.
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
