Fiery Carrion Parrots (Caropsitticus calidus - "fiery flesh parrot") are one of the many members that comprise Skull Island's Carrion Parrots.
Facts[]
Fiery Carrion Parrots possessed hard, sharp beaks for rending flesh from carcasses and snapping small bones which is far more efficient compared to many members of its genus.
Like the rest of the Carrion Parrots, the Fiery variety filled the ecological niches left by Vultures which are somewhat absent in the biosphere. In the vulture's absence, the Carrion Parrots filled the role as the flying scavengers whereas larger carrion birds like Foeducrista and the Profanornis filled the roles of ground scavengers.
Fiery Carrion Parrots are the most brightly colored species, their red eye rings were a sign of sexual maturity.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown why these parrots became scavengers given the large abundance of scavengers already filling the niches.
- The feathers of the Fiery Carrion Parrot resemble the feathers of the Scarlet Macaw, This is probably due to convergent evolution.
- Like all flying birds, it is likely that the Fiery Carrion Parrots survived the sinking of Skull Island without the need of human help.
