Laden with squirming grubs, Hairy Maggotflies swarm at carrion sites to deposit their young. They are among one of the most common insects on Skull Island.
Facts[]
The predatory maggots feed not on the carrion but on the maggots of other insects present. Adult flies could fall victim to their voracious offspring if they were unable to deliver them to food within the first hours of hatching, hence these flies are ever vigilant to ensure their young could eat or they themselves might fall prey to their own children.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure. Although with how common and adaptable the Hairy Maggotfly, it is very likely they would have survived by hitching ride on the various expedition ships entering Skull Island.
