The hefty carrion whelk Incultulepas, (meaning "squalor-limpet"), was a type of large sea-snails that has recently adapted to terrestrial life.
Facts[]
Incultulepas was unique among limpets in that they were primarily scavengers compared to the predatory lifestyle of other sea snails. As they lack the jaws to tear through flesh, Incultulepas instead, exuded a saliva that softened bone allowing the snail to rasp away mouthfuls.
Indeed, Incultulepas is a dedicated bone eater and they are likely the main culprit in ensuring that no body gets left behind within the inland river systems of Skull Island.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
