The Martial Parrot (Lophopsittacus martiallus - "martial broad-billed parrot") is a small bird that lives in trees. It is a close relative to the Carrion Parrots as well as a surviving relative of the exinct broad-billed parrot.
Facts[]
The Martial Parrot is dramatically bigger than even the largest of Carrion Parrots. It has a wingspan of up to two meters or 6.5 feet, unlike their cousins, the carrion parrots, this species is more traditional as it feeds on fruits, seeds and insects. This bird is an example of convergent evolution since its appearance and behavior is similar to that of the macaws found in South America.
It is also one of the most colourful birds in Skull Island, possessing a vivid hue of green, yellow and blue and is best recognized by its white feathers covering its face and cheeks.
Trivia[]
- By sharing the same species name of Lophopsittacus, the Martial Parrot could be a surviving species of the extinct broad-billed parrot. This means, by extension, the Carrion Parrots are also related to the broad-billed parrot.
- Like all flying birds, it is likely that the Martial Parrot survived the sinking of Skull Island without the need of human help.
