The Megalatus imperius ("Imperial Big wings") is a giant butterfly that thrives on Skull Island.
It is mentioned in The World Of Kong (2005).
Facts[]
The Megalatus resembles the swallowtail butterflies, and like them may have been a pollinator.
Possible predators include Novusaurus Biscutica, various Alatusaurus, the Fallow Mantis, the centipede genus Idolon, the Wicked Weaver, the Feather Devil, the Trident Chameleon, the Sun-fin and possibly the Tiny Brightbird. For defense it may have engaged in Batesian mimicry (meaning it impersonates a harmful animal).
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
