Megapede horridus (meaning "horrible giant-feet") is a 3-4 feet long (0.9-1.2 meters) species of Megapede.
Facts[]
Skull Island's huge centipedes were serious contenders as predators of the jungle undergrowth and dwarfed their offshore cousins. Several giant species prowled the leaf litter, eating invertebrates, rats, lizards and other small prey.
Megapede horridus was the second largest of these. The wriggling killer had strong legs for grabbing prey, pinning the struggling victim while its cruel venom took effect.
Like all megapedes, M. horridus was stockier and heavier than the more slender Idolon genus. However, whilst their jaw strength was formidable, their venom contents is predictably more muted than the Idolon genus.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
