Mortifillex venefecus ("poisonous deadly-lure") is a 3-4 feet long (0.9-1.2 meters) aquatic arthropod found in the island's waterways.
Facts[]
Less of a swimmer, Mortifillex is a dedicated avivore that uses a fishlike lure in the shape of a small fish to attract prey like birds like an Anglerfish or a Snapping Turtle.
Specialized legs near the head are adapted for grasping prey while fast-acting nerve venom is injected insuring a swift kill.
Mortifillex is just one of many marine carnivores living in the riverine systems of Skull Island.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
- It is unknown what type of arthropod Mortifillex is, as it has more than six limbs and is multi-segmented. A possible theory is that it might be another offshoot of the myriapods such as the neopedes.
