The Prickle Fish (Ichthyspineus celox, meaning "swift fish-of-thorns") is a fish native to skull island's waterways, similar in appearance to a gar.
Facts[]
The Prickle Fish is pretty on the nose on what it is. Its best defining feature and best defence is a row of thorns or spines running across its body. Given its small size, the row of spines acts as its best defensive mechanism in case it got swallowed by a larger predator.
Predators which swallowed these small fishes are in for a nasty surprise, as these spines are hard to dislodge in the throat, forcing the predator "cough-up" its meal. Outside of its spines, the slender frame of the Prickle Fish also makes it an excellent swimmer.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
