Red Carrion Parrot (Caropsitticus rufus, meaning "red flesh parrot") are one of the many members that comprise Skull Island's Carrion Parrots. They are among the smallest in the family, only having a 26-30 inch long wingspan (66-76 centimeters).
Facts[]
As one of the smallest carrion parrots on Skull Island, the Red Carrion Parrot is unable to soar as long or as high as its larger siblings. Rather, it uses its small size to quickly swoop in when food is available in order to gauge on its meal the first. Its small size and swift speed does give the Red Carrion Parrot some defence against predators or competitors, but it also means that they are likely to be bullied off a catch.
Like its name implies, the Red Carrion Parrot is covered in a great vivid hue of warm colours, although it is less red and more orange-yellow.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown why these parrots became scavengers given the large abundance of scavengers already filling the niches.
- Like all flying birds, it is likely that the Red Carrion Parrots survived the sinking of Skull Island without the need of human help.
