The Savage-Gnat, Efferuculex niger ("dark savage-gnat"), is a species of giant mayfly-like insect found on Skull Island.
Facts[]
Little is known about it other than it lives mainly in jungle areas. Its name suggests it is a voracious predator, similar to robber flies or at the very least, extremely hostile and territorial: size-wise possible prey might be other insects such as Noxmuscus.
It is very visible at the very least, being almost blood-red in colouration.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
