Chamaeleo cuspis ("trident chameleon") is a 7-9 inches long (17.8-22.9 centimeters) species of lizard that is found on Skull Island. The animal is described in the book "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island" (2005).
Facts[]
Trident Chameleon is a species of cameleon with 2 horns. At around 23 centimeters at its maximum, the Trident Chameleon is among one of the smallest of Skull Island's chameleons. It is a dedicated omnivore, making it one of the more generalist and successful species of chameleons. Of all the chameleons, the Trident Chameleon is among the more 'normal' variety.
The canopy of Skull Island's jungle played host to the world's biggest and strangest chameleons. Evolving in isolation after some chance colonization several million years ago, they had grown to gigantic proportions. The largest variety was almost 3 feet long.
Their natural climbing skills allowed the species to clamber into the highest branches to obtain their prizes, while their mimetic camouflage protected them from arboreal predators.
Trivia[]
- Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
